Executive Protection – Venturing Out On Your Own

It is difficult to obtain a long-term executive protection (EP) contract as an individual operator. However, it is not that difficult to start a PE company. If you have the experience, training, and knowledge, you can start an EP company, a company that is fully committed to providing the best protection for its clients. Before you decide to venture out on your own, here are some important tips to get you started:

• Obtain the proper license in your state to start a PE business.

• Choose a name for your record company that is unique and free of trademarks and copyrights.

• Obtain a business license or corporate entity.

• Go to a bank and set up a business bank account (savings and checking).

• Get a printed business card with your EP company name and your name and title (managing director).

• Money in the bank to cover the cost of assigning your EP before the client finances it. He initially paid daily expenses while on assignment; this includes airfare, hotel, meals and transportation.

• If you are just starting out or are an experienced EP professional; you have to have an EP contract. Your EP contract protects you and your business from getting ripped off. Hire a lawyer to prepare a professional and legal EP contract exclusively for your company.

• It is not unusual to incur a $5,000 expense claim when staying at five-star hotels and be forced to eat expensive food at the hotel restaurant with your client. Not to mention flying business class when traveling with the client. You must be able to cover all of this either in cash or credit.

• Congratulations, you are now the owner of your own EP company. Now is the time to create your own success as a PE business owner.

You must be willing to work on creating, promoting, marketing, and selling your EP services. Competition in the industry is great, so you need to make the services you provide great too. When starting out, you need to accept tasks as often as possible and in as many different places as possible (multiple cities and countries). Over time, you can become more selective about which clients you personally work with and in which locations. Simply assign your other agents to work with those clients and in those locations that you chose not to, but that should come later.

At first, you can’t afford to pass up an EP assignments opportunity by working with multiple clients and locations, gaining additional work experience and funding for your EP business. Although the EP business is not all about money, you must be willing to put yourself in harm’s way as a last resort to protect your clients. However, making a living owning your own EP company should eventually give you the luxury of being able to afford to do what you love, executive protection, without having to worry about money.

Good EP business owners will get EP contracts. You may have to do several different contract interviews before you get an assignment, but if you do enough interviews, you will eventually get a contract for your EP company. Don’t take “No” for an answer; don’t let a “No” from one company destroy your chances of getting a contract from another company. Potential clients are going to say “no” sometimes to your contract proposal. You just have to find customers who say “Yes”.

Remember that the EP business is extremely competitive and you must believe in yourself and the protection coverage you provide. This, of course, includes the establishment of secure accommodation for the client, VIP or fast-track immigration and customs service at the airport, secure transportation for clients so that they can proceed expeditiously but safely to their meetings and business functions. scheduled. Ensuring beforehand that routes have been analyzed and venue destinations assessed and safe havens established in case droppings come into physical contact with the fan.

There is much more to know about the business than this short article, but these are the essential points. Good luck in your EP business and good luck.

How does smoking cause lung cancer?

Smoking and lung cancer are almost always considered together, and there is a lot of truth to that. In fact, tobacco’s increased risk of developing lung cancer is one of the most basic known harmful health effects.

How does smoking cause cancer?

Cigarette smoke is loaded with chemicals that act as poisons to the body. Upon inhalation, these poisonous chemicals enter the bloodstream, from where they lead to various diseases, including cancer. The lung, of course, remains the most easily affected organ. Tobacco smoke carries more than 7,000 chemicals, of which 250 are known to be poisonous. 69 chemicals out of those 250 have carcinogenic properties. Let’s take a look at the different ways smoking leads to lung cancer:

  • DNA damage – Chemicals in cigarette smoke, such as nitrosamines, benzene, benzo(a)pyrene, nickel and arsenic, and polonium-210, are known to have carcinogenic properties. These chemicals damage the DNA of genes that help protect against cancer either by attaching to the DNA or by interfering with cellular processes that help repair damaged DNA.
  • Weakening of the body’s defense system. – There are several ways in which the chemicals in smoke reduce the body’s defense mechanism. For example, formaldehyde destroys the lining of the hair in the airways, which otherwise prevents foreign substances from reaching the lower respiratory tract. Smoke also suppresses the action of cells that prevent abnormal cell proliferation (or cancer). The cadmium in smoke inhibits the action of detoxifying proteins in the body.
  • long term exposure – Smokers are exposed to high levels of toxins over the years. Although cancer takes years to develop, the high levels of toxic substances in a smoker’s body make it difficult to cope with their damaging effects. Damage to lung cells and their DNA accumulates over the years to turn those cells into a cancerous state.
  • Addictive nature of nicotine. – Nicotine, the main component present in tobacco plants, is really addictive. When inhaled, it enters the lungs, transfers to the bloodstream, and reaches the brain within seconds. The nicotine in cigarettes and other products creates an addiction much like drugs like cocaine. This makes it difficult for many regular smokers to quit even if they want to. Habitual use over time increases the risk of cancer.

So does quitting help, even for a long-term smoker?

The good news is that yes! Quitting smoking is the first step in reducing the risk of cancer. It may not be easy and may require outside help, but the health benefits far outweigh the harmful effects:

  • Carbon monoxide levels in the blood return to normal within 12 hours of quitting.

  • Lung function and circulation begin to show improvements within 12 weeks of quitting.

  • Remaining smoke-free for 10 years reduces the risk of lung cancer to half the risk of a smoker, in addition to reducing the risk of other types of cancer.

  • Life expectancy increases regardless of the age at which a person quits smoking; however, the benefit is greater if one quits earlier.

What about a person who already has a positive diagnosis of lung cancer? Will it help you to quit smoking now? The answer is yes, quitting during treatment helps the body respond to therapy and recover faster, while reducing the risk of other infections and respiratory failure. Cancer patients who quit smoking also reduce the risk of cancer coming back or a second cancer at a later time. Better late than never!

Transportation and being friendly to the environment: where is this development going?

In today’s easy forms of transportation, consumers have a tremendous amount of choice when it comes to vehicles. The focus has shifted from simply getting from point A to point B to a more environmental mindset to help preserve the world. This mentality has reduced the options mainly to buses and trains. For self-driving people, the options revolve around electric cars, but some drivers need more power and choose something in between; the hybrid that can also be plugged in. This is what this article is about; the differences in cars and what people need in cars and transportation these days when being environmentally friendly is supposed to occupy the human brain. Some might say this new car trend could fade as some people switch to traditional gasoline cars, but societies around the world are trying new ways to shift mindsets in a greener direction.

So what is the difference between an EV (electric vehicle) and a hybrid? The difference is the fuel. Electric cars do not need fuel to run. Neither do hybrids, but with hybrids the driver has the option to run longer, as a tank of fuel takes over when the juice in the batteries runs out. Therefore, many people see hybrids as more beneficial; these cars can travel longer than electric vehicles before a new charge. However, electric vehicles are logically much more environmentally friendly, as these cars run solely on electricity, which also makes them cheaper to operate.

The type of car one might choose depends on the usage. People with long commutes tend to stick with traditional or hybrid cars, while electric vehicles are great for short distances and city driving. The most developed EV model these days is Tesla’s Model S, which can go 240-286 miles between charges. But even that model can’t compare to a hybrid that has the ability to go 30-40 miles on pure electricity and then 200-300 miles on fuel.

So what is the wisest choice in a society where the pressure on the environment and ecological thinking is higher than ever? The best option is a gradual transition. If one owns a fuel based car and needs to drive long distances, get a hybrid. Model options may still be slim, but this will change with demand. If you already own a hybrid but need a new car, carefully consider all aspects of use and then make an informed decision. Suddenly an EV could be the right choice.

Some people will never care about a greener world unless it’s profitable. Hybrids and electric vehicles are often reasonably priced and cheaper to operate. And as gas prices continue to rise, so does the demand for other types of cars. The more types, the more variety in everything, including the price. In addition, electricity is cheaper than gas and electric vehicles avoid some expenses, for example, tolls. The annual fee for electric vehicles is also lower than that of traditional cars due to non-existent CO2 emissions.

Products and services that take a more environmentally friendly direction often have benefits, not only for the consumers who buy them, but also for the companies that produce them. Every green innovation is a step towards making the Earth a better place. Humanity will never stop inventing new things, but changing the way it’s done can make a remarkable difference.

Hybrids and electric vehicles are just the beginning of the invention of a greener transportation world. This evolving trend might have been slow going, but changes are visible along the way. City buses are going hybrid and taxi companies are investing in electric cars to achieve a more environmentally friendly profile. This change in business affects people. Car drivers could start thinking about replacing their gas-powered car with something fresh and new that doesn’t contribute to harsh carbon dioxide emissions, and those who use public transportation will see a positive change when both they and transportation companies try to stay as green as possible. possible.

In conclusion, the point of this article was not to force people to go green. Nor was it a comparison of cars and means of transportation. However, it was a comment on the current green development in cars that affects a large part of the world. Since development is still young, the planet could see a huge reduction in CO2 emissions in the near future, as well as a whole new market that will bring excitement to buyers around the world. Meanwhile, bus and taxi passengers will feel good about a positive change in what they and the companies that run them are doing. It’s a collective responsibility to bring people together and it’s exciting.

Barbell Squats – Tips and Techniques for a Better Squat

Barbell squats are probably one of the most difficult exercises to perform correctly and are often slaughtered beyond recognition by most people. The old saying “form first” couldn’t be truer when it comes to performing this exercise. However, most people put weight before form in an effort to stroke their ego and impress onlookers. Putting your ego before form in barbell squats will eventually catch up with you and lead to severe lower back and knee pain or even torn ligaments.

Follow the tips below to improve your barbell squats:

one.) Line up your hands using the same barbell grip you use when you bench press your one rep max (this works for most people). Going with too wide a grip can cause the bar to roll down your back, which can cause injury. Going with too close a grip can put a lot of pressure on your wrists, elbows, and shoulders.

two.) Try to set the bar in the drop between your medial and rear delts. Depending on how much muscle mass you have, this can help keep the bar stable and in place at all times.

3.) Your chest should look flat in the mirror in front of you at all times during the squat. By flat, I mean the same way you see your chest as if you were standing in front of the mirror with good posture.

4.) Squat down until the tops of your thighs are parallel to the ground. It’s best to use a mirror next to you to measure this because the mirror in front of you can make it look like you’re much deeper into the squat than you really are.

5.) Your stance should be at shoulder height or a little closer. This will help you isolate your quads and take some weight off your spinal erectors at the end of the rep.

6.) Barbell squats are one of the few exercises where you have to hold your breath at the bottom of the rep. Begin by taking a deep breath before slowly lowering yourself to the end of the rep. By the time you’re at the bottom of the rep, your lungs should be maxed out and hold as much air as possible. Keep holding your breath all the way until you’re about five inches from the top of the rep, then exhale and repeat. This will help fill in the cavities in your torso, which will ultimately help stabilize your spine and prevent back injury at the bottom of the rep.

7.) Make sure you have a lot of flexibility in your calves or you won’t be able to perform a barbell squat properly. Not having enough flexibility in your calves will cause you to lean forward onto your toes at the bottom of the rep, eventually leading to back injury. Take time to stretch your calves every day to gain more flexibility.

8.) Always push with your heels. This will help you isolate your quads and take a lot of the weight off the arch of your foot. Putting this kind of weight toward the front of your feet can cause sunken arches. Try to wear a shoe that offers some support for the arch of your feet when doing any type of heavy leg exercise.

9.) Wear a belt when performing heavy barbell squats. This will keep your abs tight throughout the set, which will help stabilize your spine. Make sure your belt is snug and that you wear it low enough on your waist.

10.) Wrap your knees in your heaviest sets. This can prevent you from squatting too low and hurting or tearing a quad muscle. It’s important not to use knee wraps like springs using momentum to bounce up and down at the bottom of the rep.

If you implement these ten tips, chances are you’ll need to lighten the load on your next squat day. It can also take a long time to get back to the weight you used in the past without using these tips. Just make sure you stick to the techniques and eventually you’ll be squatting more than you ever dreamed of and you’ll have the legs to show it. Just remember that bodybuilding isn’t about weight, it’s about form and building a well-balanced, muscular physique. Patience, hard work, consistency, and perseverance will ultimately prevail in the sport of bodybuilding.

The Physics Behind Egg Catching: An Application of Momentum and Momentum

Question: You and a friend are participating in an egg throwing contest. The goal of this contest is to throw an egg as far as possible without cracking or breaking it. Describe your strategy for catching eggs that have been thrown from a long distance without breaking them in physics terms. Use terms like momentum and momentum.

The student’s response was:

When trying to catch an egg with the greatest distance, there are several things to keep in mind. Things like the weight of the egg, how far you throw it, and how you catch the egg can change the results a lot.

First of all, when throwing something as small as an egg, keep in mind that the greater the distance, the more force is exerted to throw the egg. The more force exerted on the egg, the more momentum there will be. This is especially important when catching the egg, as doing it the wrong way can cause it to crack.

Egg capture can be particularly difficult, because the egg is very brittle and fragile. To reduce momentum, you should grab the sides of the egg so it doesn’t splash onto your hand. The egg’s momentum, which is its average force over a period of time, must be reduced to ensure a safe landing of the egg. By grabbing the sides of the egg, you are reducing its momentum and momentum to then make the egg fall into your palm.

The tutor’s response was: To win the competition, we must throw the egg as high as we can. So when it falls down, it will also have a high speed. The mass of the egg is fixed. So if we need to win this competition, we have to be prepared to face a big boost that we will receive when it drops. Let’s say we take time “t” to catch this egg. So the force in catching the egg will be “F” given by:

F*t=m(vf-vi)

Then F= m(vf-vi)/t

And we have already seen that the mass m is fixed.

Also Vf = 0 because the egg finally stops after catching it.

Vi is the speed that was just before catching the egg and we have already seen that it will be very high if we want to win the competition.

Now, to decrease the force, the only thing we can do is keep the contact time with our hands “t” as high as possible.

If we do that, we will be able to reduce the force F to such a limit that the egg, although quite brittle, does not break.

To increase the contact time we need to catch the egg in sweeping action. We need to move our hands down so that the relative speed between the hand and the egg is less. This will effectively increase the time “t” and thus reduce the Force F.

Dog tears: an emotional issue for humans – For dogs? Not that much

Rocky is a dog’s dog. A standard poodle, has never seen a show ring, never had the show “poodle cut”. His human, David, selected him from the kennel on the basis that Rocky was moving quickly from a sort of quiet reserve to an interest in apparent friendship. David was briefed on some of the poodles’ needs: lots of physical activity, companionship, “mental” stimulation; Kennel staff suggested that the poodles enjoy advanced training and physical challenges, in keeping with their history as waterfowl retrievers. David is an active guy who goes for a run almost every day, and all of this suited him. It even has a swimming pool, which Rocky loves. Rocky is well behaved in public and the two are almost inseparable. Except David has a job. Overseeing operations in a large data center means you may occasionally work from home, and often means you may be called in for extended hours on short notice, to spend at least part of your time in a “clean room” in a building. with strict security. . No, it is not a dog-friendly workplace.

David notices that Rocky sometimes seems to cry when he leaves for work or when he comes home late. He thinks it’s sweet that Rocky misses him, and gets sad and tearful when he can’t be around. Is right?

Tears of grievance? Or bored to tears?

We should probably be careful about associating dog behavior with emotional life and human reactions, even when the correlations seem obvious; even when the relationship seems close and affectionate; even when it’s really hard to look at a dog with teary eyes and not see what we know as sadness. Some people will never see anything else.

However, what we know about canine psychology suggests otherwise. Tearing is one of many stress reactions. Just as we humans can cry when dust or other irritants get into our eyes, so will dogs. However, you won’t often see tears fall from a dog’s eyes. In humans, normal tearing that occurs as part of the eye’s lubrication drains through the tear ducts into the nasal cavity, where it normally evaporates and is exhaled, or assimilated into nasal mucus. In case of irritation and excessive tearing, tears may spill from the eyes or contribute to sneezing. In cases of deep, sobbing grievance, tears may run down the cheeks as well as down the nose. Dog tears, whatever their cause, tend to collect in a lacrimal pit at the base of the eye socket and then drain through the nasal cavity into the throat to be swallowed. (That tear may well magnify the teary-eyed effect.) Tears usually only appear on the face if the hair gets them dirty there, which can also be a source of eye irritation. David, in truly anthropomorphic fashion, associates Rocky’s tears with his own feelings of sadness and guilt at leaving his friend alone, but not with the similar tears David sees when he is late for Rocky’s newspaper clipping schedule.

Now of course the stress of parting is different from the stress of being pushed around by uncut hair. It has its own name: separation anxiety. And some would argue that not calling that sadness is a distinction without a difference.

Let’s go ahead and do a somewhat anthropomorphic dive into Rocky’s “mood” when he cries. David sees: “Oh David, I’m going to miss you a lot, I love you and I want to be with you and I hate when you’re not.” Research suggests that the script in Rocky’s brain is more likely: “Poop! There it goes. Who’s going to feed me? Am I going to run out today? He’s hiding my toys again. I’m going to be bored all day.”

“Uh-oh, I’m so sorry” or “See you later, buddy”?

The difference is really in the most comforting and comforting way for David to respond to Rocky’s stress. As usual, although we are generalizing here, dogs definitely have distinct personalities, as well as breed and species traits, and not all dogs will respond in the same way to similar stimuli.

If David is fixated on sadness, he could be making a fuss over Rocky for both his unscheduled departure and guilt-ridden return: making sad faces (an unconscious mimicry we humans do that actually turns on our empathy circuits), speaking with a sad voice. trying to calm Rocky down and giving him treats. Well-intentioned, but all of these gestures can simply signal to a stressed dog, “Hey, you’re right, I’m messing with our routine and now I’m acting weird,” and thus add to the stress.

David’s first priority should probably be making sure Rocky’s routine is as normal as possible: that food is provided, that toys and treats are as readily available as ever, and, as needed, that additional human help arrives (and familiar) for walking and exercise. rock needs. Your second priority should be to handle these details with as much pre-planning and as little fuss as possible, not making too much of an unexpected departure and keeping an eye on Rocky’s behavior upon his return, but moving both of you as usual. routine as fast as possible.

Remembering that dogs aren’t people, by literally shrugging off his departure, by taking Rocky’s routine into account and sticking to it as much as possible, those tears can be a thing of the past almost overnight.

How to Calculate Taxable Gain or Loss to Arrive at After-Tax Cash Flow

The profitability of a rental income property, of course, is measured by the amount of cash flow the property generates. What a real estate investor always wants to know when considering the property’s profitability for a given year is “How much did I make?” And this is resolved by considering the cash flow of the property plus or minus the investor’s taxable income or loss.

To calculate taxable income or loss, we must first determine the property’s net operating income (NOI). Net operating income is gross operating income minus operating expenses. For example, let’s say a rental property generates annual rental income of $205,993 and annual operating expenses of $41,718 at: The NOI would be $164,275.

From that amount, we would deduct the annual amounts of loan interest paid, depreciation, and amortization, and then add any interest earned to calculate taxable income or loss.

Well, let’s analyze and then show the formula. It will be more meaningful that way.

interested payment

The annual amount of interest paid on your loan during a given year is straightforward. Suppose, for example, that you made mortgage payments totaling $88,470, of which $23,552 was applied to principal: the amount of interest paid during that year was $64,918.

Depreciation

Depreciation is more complex because it depends on the type of real estate that is depreciated and what percentage is used for improvements (land cannot be depreciated).

The tax code defines depreciation (or “cost recovery”) as a “loss in value of a property over time as the property is used” and the tax code allows owners to take a tax deduction every year until the entire asset is derecognized. The amount of the depreciation deduction depends on the “useful life” of the income property which, under the current tax code, is 27.5 years for residential property and 39 years for commercial real estate (non-residential property).

For our example, we’ll keep it simple and just say that the allowable depreciation amount for our income property this year was $23,076.

Amortization

This refers to the process of taking a partial annual tax deduction for an item that you cannot spend in a single year and must pay off, such as “loan points.” Although you pay this premium in a lump sum at the time you close the loan, you must pay it off over the life of the loan.

Again (for simplicity’s sake) let’s assume that the tax code allowable depreciation points for our given year were $920.

interest earned

This refers to interest income you might have earned on your income property or perhaps an escrow account that your lender required for real estate taxes and insurance.

In this case, we will simply assume that the interest earned is zero.

The formula

Fair enough. Now that you have an idea of what these components represent, let’s look at the formula.

operating margin

less interest paid

less depreciation

less amortization

plus interest earned

equals taxable income or loss

How to get to cash flow after taxes

There are essentially two cash flows generated by ownership of rental income: the one that occurs without any consideration for income taxes and the one that results after the investor fulfills his or her income tax obligation.

The first is known as cash flow before taxes (CFBT) and is obtained by subtracting the property’s annual debt service from its net operating income. For example, subtracting the total mortgage payments of $88,470 illustrated above from the NOI of $164,275, the CFBT is $75,806. This figure is usually shown in a real estate analysis and plays a role in our next calculation, but it doesn’t really represent the cash the investor gets after Uncle Sam has taken a bite.

That brings us to a more meaningful bottom line known as cash flow after tax (CFAT), and explains why calculating taxable income and loss is essential.

The formula is relatively simple:

Cash Flow Before Taxes (CFBT)

minus Income Tax Liabilities

= Cash Flow After Taxes (CFAT)

Ok, now let’s break it down.

The income tax liability is calculated by multiplying the taxable gain or loss by the investor’s marginal tax bracket. For example, suppose the investor falls into a 28% tax bracket. We would multiply $75,361 by 0.28 to arrive at an income tax liability of $21,101 which, in turn, is subtracted from the CFBT to calculate the CFAT. In other words,

$75,806

(-) 21,101

(=) 54,705

Fair enough, but how do we handle a loss of taxable income? For example, suppose the taxable income we calculated earlier was a negative $75,361, what then? In that case, the income tax liability results in a negative $21,101 and is added to the CFBT, which in turn increases the CFAT.
