Pregnancy may seem like the longest period of your life, but before you know it, you will be in labor! In addition to preparing your home to welcome the latest addition to your family, there are other important things to focus on while you can. Make time for yourself, your partner, other children (if you have them), and even your beloved friends or pets!
Try to do these 3 important things before your baby arrives!
Pack your hospital bags
Experts recommend that future moms should have their hospital bags packed by 7 months. One bag for you, one for the baby and a small one for Dad! There are many lists you can find online of what to pack. For you, some clothing sets and some entertainment for your hospital stay are a must. For the baby, you will need diapers, bottles and formula (if you are not breastfeeding) and even an outfit to go home, among other things!
Plan a family date
If you have other children, it is essential that they feel that, even when their new sibling arrives, they are as loved and important as ever. A good thing is to go on a family date to talk and have a good time together. It could be a picnic in a nearby park or dinner at your favorite restaurant. At home, try to spend as much time with your kids as possible before blowing up. A movie night or working together on a craft project will be so much fun! If you have pets, spend some time with them too!
Make dad feel special
Many dads feel a bit left out during pregnancy and childbirth, as mom gets the attention and pampering. Dads get tired too, and most of the time, they are just as anxious and excited about your baby’s arrival as you are. Before the baby arrives, show Dad your appreciation, as he has taken over the house and does the “heavy lifting” while you are pregnant. A little act of sweetness can go a long way: invite him to dinner with just the two of you, buy that thing at the mall you’ve been looking at for a while, or hire a babysitter so you can hang out with the boys.
It is important to focus on yourself and your family, in addition to preparations before popping, follow these important things to do before the baby is born!
