It’s fun and cheap to make your own jewelry. The beads and pendants can be used to make a vintage or vintage style necklace that everyone will love. Here is how to do it.
As follows:
Choose your accounts. When you’re ready to make your vintage bead necklace, the first thing to do is find the perfect beads and pendants. There are many places where you can find these for your necklace. Look in your personal collection (or your grandmother’s) for beads that may be vintage-style. Thrift stores and consignment stores are also great places to look. You can often find great deals on jewelry that is perfect for this classic-style necklace. The 1960s and 1970s tended to have bead colors in fall tones, such as orange, brown, and green. Large beads are fun to use. You may have to get the beads at a thrift store, so you’ll probably need to buy a complete necklace, but you can use it as a pattern for your old necklace.
Prepare your accounts to work with them. Once you’ve found what you need for your vintage-style necklace, get your beads ready. Never use old or worn clasps or necklace chains. Bath your beads in warm soapy water. Dishwashing liquid is very effective. Use a toothbrush to clean dirty glass or porcelain beads. You’re almost ready to make your vintage-style bead necklace, but be sure to dry the beads first.
Prepare your equipment and tools. Get out all of your tools, along with the beads and other supplies like round-nose pliers, a clasp, and thread; a good option is the fishing line. If you make a lot of jewelry you can have a shape board to put all the beads on, otherwise place them on a clean towel to keep the beads in order before stringing. You can put some new accounts along with the old ones you have collected to add interest. So now arrange them all in whatever layout you think you want.
Start stringing. So now you have the entire bead design in front of you, and that means you are ready to start the stringing part of making your vintage style necklace. Be sure to add a closure to the end of your beads so they don’t fall off, or else you may be in big trouble. When the beads reach the end, tie a knot around the other clasp and cut off the excess thread. Your unique vintage-style necklace is finished and ready to show off to the world!
