There is an old saying that goes: “You have nothing to fear except fear itself!” How true is that?
Everyone has fears. What do you fear? Some people are afraid of the dark, some are afraid of heights, some are afraid of enclosed spaces – what are you afraid of?
Did you know that there are those who are afraid of Success? That’s right, there are people who are afraid to succeed at something! There are people who spend their whole lives failing because they are afraid of succeeding at something. So guess what: they spend their entire lives failing because they feel success comes at a high price. So they never really push themselves and try to succeed!
What I want to do now is give you a definition of FEAR that I heard a few years ago. I don’t remember where I got this now, but it’s the best definition I’ve ever heard. Are you ready? Here it is:
Fake
Evidence
Appearance
Real
Fear is false evidence that seems real! Fear will rear its ugly face and make you believe what is incredible. Fear can appear and make you see a false Reality, but Fear is never a Reality! That’s why it says: Fake evidence that looks real!
Let me ask those of you who are afraid of the dark: What is in the dark that is not in the light? The answer is nothing! We can imagine all kinds of things, but where are those things when the light is turned on?
When I was a kid, my mom would come into my room and tuck me in and then turn off the light (bedtime), after she left the room, she would start yelling, ‘mommy, mommy, mommy, help me, mommy, snakes in my bed’ . My mom would come in and turn on the light and the snakes would disappear. Where did they go? My mom would look under the bed, in the closet, in the dresser drawers, etc. NO SNAKES! Were the snakes ever really there? FEAR!
Isn’t that how we all do it when it comes to success? We (myself included) can find all the reasons why it won’t work! We walk around in the dark without thinking about turning on the light in order to see the real Reality of the thing. Don’t believe the appearance of false evidence (the friend who says that he can’t make money doing that: get a job or this is a ruse, a scam, etc.). The reality is that you are in business, treat your business like any business! Show up to work on time, learn what you need to do to make your business successful, and do what it takes to succeed and you will.
There are 3 things that are REAL: Death (Hank Williams sang a song, “You’re not getting out of this world alive”), Taxes (Uncle Sam will get his share), and a Higher Power: Now that’s reality! !
There is another Reality straight from my mother’s month: “I can never do anything!” The word cannot come from FEAR! My mother also told me, “Son, you can do anything if you want to do it bad enough. It just depends on how much you WANT it!” I’m asking you, ‘How badly do you want to succeed?’
Don’t let fear cloud your judgment. There is all sorts of false evidence with a semblance of reality, but if you turn on the light, you can see that what appears to be in the dark is just a runaway imagination. Turn on the light and see what is really there: THE REALITY!
There is no reason in the world why you can’t do for yourself what you do for your employer at work. The biggest difference between WORK and your home business is that you are making the decisions, not your employer! The other difference is that your employer hands you that paycheck at the end of the week: Guaranteed Pay!
Think about this for a second: What if your employer suddenly comes up to you and says, ‘Your production has gone down lately.’ Do you think your employer would not consider replacing you if he could find someone who would produce better results? Where is that job security now? Talk about FEAR!?
He has the ability to work at home in his spare time and build a business that could one day earn him a six figure income. Will your boss at work ever pay you what you’re really worth? Which opportunity do you think he presents the most FEAR? What really creates more security? What is the false evidence that seems real? Choose one!?
